When it comes to skin care we often focus more on our face and ignore the remaining parts of our body that require equal attention, like our knees and elbows. Over a period of time our knees and elbows begin to get noticeably patchy and dark. Sun exposure and build up of dark skin cells make the skin on your elbows and knees darker than your actual body tone. It can be embarrassing, so, here are some tips to take care of patchy knees and elbows.
Use lemon juice
Lemon juice contains citric acid which is a natural bleaching agent. Applying lemon juice on your elbows and knees daily helps you lighten the skin tone on those areas. Apply the lemon juice with a clean cotton ball and let it sit for about 30 minutes. Then rinse it off using warm water. You will notice significant change within a few weeks. You can also use the extract of other citrus fruits that are rich in Vitamin C, but it might not be as effective as lemon juice.
Apply milk cream with pinch of turmeric
Like citrus fruits, turmeric is also a natural bleaching agent. To get rid of patchy knees and elbows with milk and turmeric create a mixture with equal pinches of turmeric and flour with a cup of milk. Apply the mixture on your knees, elbows and any other parts of your body where you require some moisturizing. Let it sit for a few minutes until it dries up and rinse the mixture off your skin with lukewarm water.
To remove the dry, flaky skin cells you must gently scrub your skin. Make sure you exfoliate regularly but don’t over do it as it might over dry your skin. Patchy knees and elbows are caused due to dry skin. So, remember to take care of your skin and always keep it moisturized.
