Pale? It’s called porcelain and I’m rockin’ it! Hi, I’m Courtney, the person behind the blog Phyrra. I’m a writer and a beauty addict. I started blogging in 2008 and went cruelty free in 2012. I share honest reviews, how-to’s, tips and more. I help my audience to embrace their own unique look and to not feel pressured to look like the airbrushed women they see in magazines.

How were you inspired to begin your channel? Where did you start?
PN: I started my Youtube Channel as a way to supplement the content on my blog. People asked me to make swatch videos and tutorials, so I said sure. I’m not a professional makeup artist and I don’t call myself a guru because I think it’s pretentious. I’m just your friend who’s a beauty addict.
What inspires you and keeps you moving forward? Why are you passionate about it?
PN: I’m inspired by helping people find products that work for them. So if you have dry skin, hooded eyes or you’re ultra pale, I’ve got the best products for you! If you’re looking for unique eyeshadows, blushes or lipsticks, I’ve got them. I love duochromes and multichromes!
What’s your favorite aspect of the beauty & cosmetics industry?
PN: I love the creativity and inspiration that I see in bright editorial looks and rainbow hair. I could look at makeup and hair all day.
What makes your brand unique from other beauty & cosmetics channels?
PN: I focus on cruelty free beauty, both from big name brands like Urban Decay and little indie companies like Makeup Geek, Sugarpill, Fyrinnae, Aromaleigh or Silk Naturals. So I bring you unique, beautiful makeup you might not have heard of otherwise.
How do you organize/plan out your content?
PN: I base my content off of what I’m doing with my blog so that the two fit together to compliment each other. If I’m working on Spring Makeup Inspiration for my blog, I’ll plan some Spring Makeup Videos to showcase my favorite lipstick shades for Spring, as an example.
What is your goal for your channel? Dreams?
PN: I would love to do more collaborations with my friends. I’ve been working on doing that this year.
Do you have any tips for others trying to break into the beauty & cosmetics industry?
PN: Be passionate about what you’re writing or talking about. Your passion will shine through.
What are your favorite beauty products or your go-to skincare regimen? What products are you currently using on a daily basis?
PN: Cover FX Liquid Foundation in N0 is my favorite foundation. The Paula’s Choice Calm skincare line is amazing for my sensitive, dry, skin and rosacea. I love Urban Decay’s Afterglow blushes and highlighters. I love all duochrome eyeshadows from Urban Decay, Makeup Geek, and Fyrinnae. Right now I’m wearing Too Faced Pitch Perfect lipstick non-stop.
What’s your personal style?
PN: I’ve had friends describe my style as post modern Faerie. I gravitate towards spikes, studs, and swarovski crystals, a la Bunny Paige or Tarina Tarantino.
What’s your favorite brand and why?
PN: For makeup overall, I’d have to say Urban Decay because their brand aesthetic matches closely with mine. They’re also cruelty free and Leaping Bunny certified, which is very important to me. For skincare it’s Paula’s Choice. Their products work well for me and they back up all of their claims with scientific research. Bunny Paige is my favorite brand for jewelry because all of the pieces I have from her are stunning.
