the mets still in trouble Now the mets have the problem of when they get pitching they dont hit, when they hit they dont pitch. The 8-7 loss to the cardinals on 7/2/08, was a perfect example. The mets came from behind twice in the game only to have a pitcher you dont figure to be in the nineth--Carlos Miniz give up a walk off homer with two outs. Yes he got the first two outs, but pressure is pressure and he was put in before Schoenweiss, Sanchez, or even Wagner. True the game was tied but sometimes you use your closer when your in must win situations.
Now I hear that Castiilo may go onthe DL.--- I also heard that the mets will probably bring up Abraham Nunez, instead of a very good young infielder in Argenis Reyes.
I think its become that part of the season where definite changes have to be made. Hopefully they will bring up Reyes and if so, maybe it will be the start of bringing up younger, more talented players rather than older experienced players, who for the most part are probably on their way out. Im not saying to make these changes in a whole sale fashion, but just as a another ballplayer is needed. There is an old saying in baseball circles, "one would rather have someone with talent than experience".
There are many beat writers that rate which baseball teams have the best talent in their respective minor leagues. Sometimes their right, but most of the time their wrong. I dont care how good or bad a particular kid was while he was playing in either high school or college, he should be only judged on how he performes once he gets his chance. The history of baseball is overloaded with stories of how young kids with big reputations never make it, and how young kids no one has ever heard of become big stars.
