METS DO IT WRONG AGAIN As everyone must know by now the NYMETS have fired Willie Randolph, late last night, along with the teams pithing coach, and firstbase coach. Everyone knew it was coming, but it is just the way it was done that is so typical of the way general manager Omar Minaya, has handled things since the end of last season. After last seasons collaspe Minaya kept saying all winter that was going to make the team younger, faster, more athletic, and stress pitching and defense. So, what does he do, yes he gets Santana to pitch, but after that he keeps the team "old, he keeps Delgado at first base after he had a terrible year, and now at 36, he cant hit or field consistently, he signs costillo, to a four year contract, not carring that both his knees are shot. As far as Alou is concerned, he cant even stay on the field, Hernandez is probably gone for the year and Pedro, well who knows??. To me outside of pitching, you have reyes, wright, beltran and church, as the core of this team, the rest are either too old, or too one dementional to realy help. I would like to mention the eight players in the minors right now that i think could be brought up to help, but (A), unless yourealy follow the mets you wouldnt know who they are, (B), the mets would never suck -up the money they would have to by letting these older players go, and finally why would the front office admit they made a mistake, by not going with youth in the first place.
So, the take the other way out they fire the manager, and replace him with a nice guy with the same personality as Randolph. In a way Im glad, not that Randolph got fired, but unless Jerry Manual can work miricals,or the team gets different players, all eyes will now be on the person they should have been all along, Omar Minaya. He put the team together, and a manager can only put on the field the players he is given to work with.
I sincerly hope that someone in the organization wakes up before its too late and the team has to go into its new ballpark next season after a season like this is shaping up to be.
