mets finally turn it around----"but" Its true that the Mets have turned it around, fianally, with a nine game winning streak going into the all-star break. However, there are a few factors left to be taken care of , if they are to make a legitimate run at the NL east title. Hopefully they can get back Ryan Church without any further problems with his health. Also, it looks like they will finally get back Angel Pagan, who has been out since mid May. There starting rotation, mainly Pedro Martinez, must stay healthy, as well as the bullpen. Of course players not getting hurt is out of a teams control, but what is in your control is the player moves that can be made in order to give the team the best possible chance to win. The one big move that has to be made is getting a steady corner outfielder, a right handed hitter if at all possible. This should be done giving up the least possible amount of young talent. For example, we keep hearing about the rockies willing to trade Matt Holiday for Mike Pelfry. The way Pelfrey has been pitching, there are very few players I would trade him for right now. The player I feel would give the Mets the most for the buck, would be Xavier Nady. It would probably cost one or two AA players one of them being a pitcher, but it would be worth it. Nady can play the outfield and firstbase,so we could finally rest Delgado. If Pagan cant cut it, then maybe Nick Evans could fill in for him. The other issue is secondbase. The way the conbination of Easley and A.Reyes have been playing there, there is really no need at this point for the return of Castillo. Of course I realize that he was given a four year contract, but the bottem line should be to win ballgames, not honor contracts.
Lets also hope that the all-star break doesnt spoil the Mets momentem.
