the mets After watching the Mets 3-2 loss to the Plillies last night, I have decided that I probably wont watch them as much or as often as I normally do. There are only a handful of players who seem to care game after game and the GM and front office dont seem to want to try to make any real changes. Sure the changed managers, but we all know that doesnt make anyone a better ballplayer. The new manager at times doesnt make any sence either. In last nights game he sits Ryan Church against a lefty, but plays Carlos Delgado. As usual Delgado went "OH" for four with three strikeouts. They have no bonified leftfielder and last night was no exception. instead of Marlon Anderson they used Chris Aguila, ----a retread from the old Expos. This loss really bothered me to the point where i will now just get the scores, follow the minor league teams of the Mets, and hope they bring some of them up pretty soon. Id much rather watch the Brooklyn Cyclones and see the likes of Ike Davis, Kirk Nieuwenhaus, Reese Havens, Zach Lutz and Brad Holt play boy you should these guys run around a ballfield.
In past articles I have listed Mets minor league players who are doing very well and I felt thay should be given a shot in the majors over the aging players already on the Mets. I have written messages to Adam Rubin of the Daily News, and Matt Cerrone of Metsblog.com, listing names of the palyers I thought would help, and the basic answers I would get were -----these players wont be as good in the majors as they are showing in the minors and they need more experience. Another answer was that the Mets must also take into consideration large contracts that they would still have to pay even if they were to cut these players. Well i feel the fans would rather watch young talented players getting better, than older players finishing thier careers. ------Fran Healy was a Mets announcer that I really didnt care for, but he always made a point that always stuck with me and that was "Id rather have a player with talent than a player with experience." The Mets are just not fun to watch at this point even when they win.
you know I have a great idea, why not sit the Wilpons and GM Omar Minaya in front of a TV and have them watch the Tampa Bay Rays, they would watch a team that plays an exciting fast type of baseball which has put them 22 games over 500, and in first place ahead of the Yankees and the Redsox. They would also see a team that has all of its starting pitchers under the age of 30 and as fas as their position players are concerned, their DH Cliff Floyd is 35, but after that they have just two player just at 30 and the rest are all under 30years of age. Imagine how much fun it would be if the Mets were a team like that ---------------------they could be.
