If Myanmar (formerly known as Burma) had oil Once a long time ago, early Americans were under a monarchy. The unfair and unequal treatment was one of the leading causes why they fought for freedom. It is the struggle and the idea for a better life where men are all created equal in the pursuit of happiness. Many men have died in this pursuit, to give their descendants and many Americans a chance for a better life. The idea of a democratic society is exactly why the Burmese people are protesting against their own government ruled by dictator Senior General Than Shwe. My purpose of writing this is in hopes that people will open their eyes and hopefully to speak their minds by writing or getting the word out to support the people of Burma.
Our government, the United States of America, have done good by the people but have many of times let us done in the choices that they have made. Such decisions like the invasion of Iraq, where we took out their dictator Saddam Hussein, in the pursuit of finding hidden nuclear weapons which we later learned were untrue. Unfortunately, Im sure many would agree that the purpose of this invasion was for nothing other than oil, and the control of it.
If Burma had oil, would our government still be sitting on their ass. No, of course not, we would be invading Burma, in hopes to free and help its people and maybe get control of the oil. Unfortunately, there are no resources in Burma that would be useful to the United States or other countries and maybe this is one of the reasons why we do nothing. The people of Burma are pleading and asking for help from the United States and other countries. How can we just watch many innocent civilians be killed for what they believe in? Must millions die first in order for us to lend a hand? Maybe the people of Burma should shout and hold signs, We have oil too, come and help us. Maybe just maybe we might lift a finger.
The United States of America is known as being a great leader who has helped many countries in need. As a leader we have responsibilities and an obligation to do what is right and just, but we must do it before it is too late, before many more innocent Burmese people are killed.
