She is a hair, beauty, fitness and fashion vlogger who publishes tutorial videos to her YouTube channel Pecadora99 and blog Junglebarbie.blogspot.com. She has a blog where she gives more information about things that are too complex and lengthy to put in a video. She is an university instructor who love teaching and sharing her knowledge. She was born in Jamaica and lived in Japan for 7 years. Her real name is Synethia Geraldine Ennis. She has a 1 year 8months old son. She has created hair tutorials based off of celebrity styles from well-known personalities such as Rihanna, Teyonah, Jenelle Monae, Lauren Hill, Ledisi, Beyonce, Nene Leakes and more.

How were you inspired to begin your channel? Where did you start?

In 2010, a few of my friends in Jamaica had their annual Christmas party to attend and wanted hairstyles for their locs. They called me asking if I could record some styles that they could wear. I recorded 10 styles in total and sent it to them. After the event, they told me all the complements they got and how the steps were easy to follow. They encouraged me to start a YouTube channel as well as a blog. I took their advice and that’s where my channel and blog was started.

What inspires you and keeps you moving forward? Why are you passionate about it?

My subscribers inspire me as well as my love and passion for what I do. I have the most awesome subscribers ever. I was also discriminated against because of my hair. This was due to the stigma associated with locs. I knew I have a voice to tell my story as well as to encourage and inspire others. I always say locs can be chi and versatile so I used my channel, blog and social media to bring that across through tutorials, pictures and posts

What’s your favorite aspect of the beauty & cosmetics industry?

The fact that I am able to use fashion, hair and makeup to express myself. There is a space for everyone. Everybody has a voice.

“I knew I have a voice to tell my story as well as to encourage and inspire others.”

What makes your brand unique from other beauty channels?

I am extremely creative and innovative. I am passionate about what I do. I engage with my viewers and readers. I reply to every positive comment. There are not that many loc bloggers and I tend to stand out because of my creative and innovative loc styles. I also do beauty, fitness and fashion videos for which I create outside the box content.

How do you organize/plan out your content?

I aim to have at least 3 videos a week. I have 1 hair, 1beauty and 1 fitness video. If I do not have content to fill all the categories, I tend to double up. For example, If I do not have a fitness video, I will add 2 hair videos etc.

What is your goal for your channel? Dreams?

I would like my channel to grow and have a broader reach and presence. I would also like to improve my editing skills, which could make my videos more appealing and powerful. I would also like to have hair classes where I go to a different city every month teaching how to care for locs and basic styling tips and demonstration. I would also like to have a meet and greet in the cities I go to just to get to know my subscribers and readers on a more personal level.

Who are your typical followers? How would you describe them?

My typical followers are usually loc wearers who need inspiration and hairstyle ideas. I also have a large fitness following as well as beauty and fashion. My followers are like family. They always have my back and they are very real and honest with me. I love them to death. It’s as if I know most of them even though we have never met.

“There is a space for everyone. Everybody has a voice.”

Do you have any tips for others trying to break into the beauty industry?

If you want to start, know what you are passionate about, get a camera that works, good lighting (natural light is the best), an editing software (most computers have one) and passion. You do not need expensive equipment at the beginning. Go for it. Be true to yourself. Be honest.

What are your favorite beauty products or your go-to skincare regimen? What products are you currently using on a daily basis?

Cleanse/exfoliate—Mask—Moisturize—water—sleep—balanced diet. The products I am currently using is L’Oreal Go 360 Clean Deep Exfoliating Scrub as a cleanser/exfoliant, Beauty by Earth Hydrating Face Mask/Michael Todd Charcoal Detoxifying Face Mask, Lancôme Genifique, 40 Carrot Vitamin C serum, L’Oreal Ideal Moisture Even Skin Tone Moisturizer

What’s your personal style?

My personal style is edgy, outside the box and unique. I like to standout. Fitting in is not my style.

How does your personal style influence your branding?

It makes my brand unique.

What’s your favorite brand and why?

I do not have a favorite brand. I do not discriminate against stores. Once I like an item and the price is right I will buy it.

What are your go-to outfit combinations?

My go-to outfit combo is either a pair of denim or slacks with a crisp button down shirt and a pair smart loafer. I like this look because you can easily elevate the look by adding a blazer and some accessories or wear it as is for a more casual look.
