How were you inspired to begin your channel? Where did you start?
I was inspired to begin my channel out of necessity. As someone struggling with hair loss and fine natural hair, there were not many girls on YouTube doing videos to educate finer/ thinner hair types and showing how to love your hair even though it may not be as thick and full as other YouTubers. I wanted to show ladies how to create versatile style options and to prevent any further hair loss. I started by documenting my journey to grow my hair back from alopecia and then to grow It to my waist.
What inspires you and keeps you moving forward? Why are you passionate about it?
I am inspired by my subscribers. They say I motivate and encourage them, but they motivate and encourage me. I am inspired by my friends and family who see the good that comes from posting a simple video. They encourage and support me to keep moving forward. I am passionate about hair care whether natural or relaxed.
“My favorite aspects of the beauty and cosmetic industry are the many ways to be expressive and to still be an individual amongst the masses.”
What’s your favorite aspect of the beauty & cosmetics industry?
My favorite aspects of the beauty and cosmetic industry are the many ways to be expressive and to still be an individual amongst the masses. In the beauty industry now so many shades of women are represented and in all heights and sizes. I love that cosmetics are making more options for African American women in regards to different hues of brown. I love that the beauty industry is putting more thought into those with sensitive skin care needs.
What makes your brand unique from other beauty channels?
My brand is unique because I prefer to keep my make-up looks as natural as possible. I do not overdo it with tons of make-up. I use just enough to enhance or highlight my beauty. I know my best features are my eyes so I play those up when doing make-up looks. I accessories my jewelry based on what looks more like me so that my looks are more natural and blend seamlessly.
How do you organize/plan out your content?
I have an organizer that I write down ideas in daily. I usually plan and schedule when I will post. I watch previously videos and see how many views, likes, dislikes I received and that lets me know if my subbies are interested or not in that topic. It shows me their interest. I always check my YouTube analysis to see my most watched video and least watched.
What is your goal for your channel? Dreams?
My goal is to have my channel to continue to be resource for those with natural hair issues, hair loss, styling options, low maintenance make-up options, everyday fashion options and hopefully I will add workout options. My dream is to grow my channel to 100k subscribers and to travel to different locations and meet my subscribers.
Who are your typical followers? How would you describe them?
Typical followers are those looking for hair inspiration and ideas with fine/ thin hair. Usually African American women ranging from 12 – 60. Those with scalp issues or wanting to learn how to grow, regrow or retain the hair they have. I would describe them as loyal follows and most have been with me since I started my channel back in 2009.
Do you have any tips for others trying to break into the beauty industry?
My tip is to just be yourself. The time you put into your channel is the results you will get out of it. If you goal is to be a fulltime YouTuber, then go for it. If it’s to just supplement your lifestyle and do it as a hobby, then that is always a great way to spend your spare time. Learn about make-up and beauty before you begin your channel. Research and share but be honest about your thoughts. Don’t do it because you are getting paid for it. Do it because you love it!

What are your favorite beauty products or your go-to skincare regimen?
I don’t have any favorites beauty products. I’m always looking to try the latest and greatest at an affordable price. My beauty/ cosmetics ranges from drug store to department store. For skin care, I use Avon products to wash and moisturize, ponds make-up remover clothes to remove make-up and dirt, and ponds to moisturize my face at night before bed. I try to drink a lot of water to keep my skin hydrated and free of blemishes.
What products are you currently using on a daily basis?
My go to foundations at the moment are MAC, Maybelline and L’Oréal true match. Lip liners are NYX brand, lipsticks and glosses mainly MAC, but I like the NYX brands as well. Eyeshadow would be the Naked pallets, but love the coastal scents 88 pallet for the bright colors as well as their 26 pallet to travel with and because it has 5 blushes.
What’s your personal style?
My personal style is African inspired. My family is originally from African so I love bright bold colors, prints and patterns. I love paring basic clothing items like white tees with bright, bold jewelry, big hair and colorful shoes. I have a quirky outgoing personality so I like to show that in my style.
How does your personal style influence your branding?
My personal style influences my branding because it’s laid back with a bit a hidden flair! I’m very creative and love showing the many facets of my life.
What’s your favorite brand and why?
My favorite brand is Louis Vuitton for purses, wallets etc. I love the look, feel, and durability of the items LV makes. Favorite clothing stores are Ross, TJ Maxx, Rue 21, Burlington Coat Factory and Forever21. I can find great clothes and jewelry at affordable prices. And since I like to change my style often, these stores allow me not to break the bank.
