Featuring: Passionate Beauty Youtuber Lexxus Clark aka ElleForLexxi

IMG_9271 Lexxus Clark is a soon to be 21 year old college student that has a passion for all things beauty! Having been exposed to the beauty industry at a young age, Lexxus soaked up vital information and developed a passion that led to the creation of her own YouTube channel “ ElleForLexxi” with over 50 thousand subscribers.

How were you inspired to begin your channel? Where did you start?

The formation of my channel didn’t spawn from inspiration, but more so “let me give the people what they want”. I was 15 years old and a sophomore in high school when I began my youtube channel. I was very adamant about my appearance in school, especially my hair. I used to get asked many questions about how I maintained my natural hair, so I thought making informational videos on youtube would help!

What inspires you and keeps you moving forward? Why are you passionate about it?

The fact that there are no prominent (black) Detroit beauty vloggers on youtube inspires me to push to get Detroit on the map. Just recently, I’ve been getting noticed in public by a lot of my subscribers, which never in a MILLION years would I have thought would happen to me. I get to see people that I inspire on a constant basis which gives me the motivation to move forward with my endeavors. I’m so passionate about hair and makeup (my mom and dad met in cosmetology school) so it pretty much runs in my blood.

The formation of my channel didn’t spawn from inspiration, but more so “let me give the people what they want”.

What’s your favorite aspect of the beauty & cosmetics industry?

My favorite aspect of this industry is literally EVERYTHING. I’d choose the beauty & cosmetics industry over any other industry offered to me.

What makes your brand unique from other beauty channels?

My brand is unique from other beauty channels because of me and my personality that I convey through my videos. After all, all beauty channels are related due to the content that is discussed, however, when I talk to the camera, I feel like I’m speaking to a friend. Being open and truthful is how I’m able to further interact with my subscribers, making a deeper connection than just through the computer screen.

How do you organize/plan out your content?

I’m honestly the most unorganized when it comes to my content. Most of my ideas come off the top of my head before I record.

What is your goal for your channel? Dreams?

A goal for my channel would definitely be to surpass one million subscribers and to receive the gold Youtube plaque. Over the life span on my channel I also would love to build more business relationships with companies for sponsorships, giveaways, etc.

Who are your typical followers? How would you describe them?

My typical followers are mostly females from different origins around the world.

Do you have any tips for others trying to break into the beauty industry?

The biggest tip would be don’t be afraid! Stepping into the industry now on Youtube is a little more intimidating when we see all the new technology that produces amazing quality videos that some new comers can’t afford. I always tell people that are new to the beauty industry to come as they are, IMG_0525but with an open mind and tough skin.

What are your favorite beauty products or your go-to skincare regimen?

My go to skin regimen consists of Clean n Clear Morning Burst Cleanser and my Ultimate Skin Spa System from VanityPlanet.com. Since I wear makeup almost every day, I need to ensure that I’m maintaining the health of my skin. The skin spa system clears my pores deeply, so people are always asking me why my skin doesn’t break out from wearing makeup daily. I have a coupon code “ultimatelc” taking the price from $125 to $38 for those interested!

What products are you currently using on a daily basis?

I’m currently daily using Anastasia Beverly Hills Cream Contour Kit in medium, Glow kit in “That Glow”, Violet Voss Holy Grail Palette, LA girl pro concealers, and my Tarte Tarteist clay liner.

“I get to see people that I inspire on a constant basis which gives me the motivation to move forward with my endeavors.”

What’s your personal style?

My personal style can be anything. I buy and wear what I like, and comes to find out I like a lot of different types of clothing.

How does your personal style influence your branding?

I haven’t been paying too much attention to detail when it comes to my personal style influencing my brand, but I do take note of companies that reach out to me due to their like in my style. So I can say, companies like what they like.

What’s your favorite brand and why?

I’ve never had a favorite brand because I grew up not wearing many name brand items.
