How were you inspired to begin your channel? Where did you start?
LM: I started nearly six years ago. I loved watching YouTube videos, especially OOTD videos, but I quickly noticed that there weren’t really many plus size creators. I really wanted to see what someone my size represented in fashion videos. I decided to make a video just to see what I look like, and then I got the courage to upload it, and I have been uploading ever since.
What inspires you and keeps you moving forward? Why are you passionate about it?
LM: Fashion is my creative outlet for self expression, and it makes me unbelievably happy. I see myself as a blank canvas that I get to style in a new way each day, and so it always stays exciting for me. I look forward to trying new styles and trends as they come out, and over all, it is just so much fun.
What’s your favorite aspect of the beauty & fashion industry?
LM: It’s ever changing and always seems new and fun. There is always so much excitement with new styles, trends, designers, etc.
What makes your brand unique from other beauty & fashion channels?
LM: I think my experiences, personal style and enthusiasm for what I do make me unique. My channel is my happy place, so I always want others to feel happy and welcome when they visit, so I always try to share my smile and a little southern charm.
How do you organize/plan out your content?
LM: I organize content based on what things I am enjoying at the moment or what kind of looks I am wanting to style. I really just go with the flow of whatever I am feeling. I don’t want to feel restricted. My channel has to feel natural to me, and I have to feel happy and comfortable with what I am creating.
What is your goal for your channel? Dreams?
LM: To reach and inspire as many people as possible and make a ton of great friends in the process!
Do you have any tips for others trying to break into the beauty & fashion industry?
LM: Be yourself. Enjoy every minute of the process, even if it seems like things are going slow, sometimes greatness takes time!
What are your favorite beauty products or your go-to skincare regimen?
LM: It’s all about moisturization for me. I have dry skin, so I work really hard to keep it hydrated. I do microdermabrasion and moisturize often. I also like to use a gel mask on my face a couple of nights a week.
What products are you currently using on a daily basis?
LM: Right now, I am loving Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara, Tom Ford lip color in Louis and I still can’t get enough of my Urban Decay Gwen Stefani palette.
What’s your personal style?
LM: I call my personal style “Modern Romance meets Pop Culture” because I am so inspired by celebrities and pop culture, but I also stay true to my love feminine, romantic looks.
How does your personal style influence your branding?
LM: My personal style makes it easy for viewers and companies to identify who I am and what I like. I try to stay true to myself and stick with things that fit with my personal style. I like to try new things, as long as they can be incorporated into my wardrobe in a natural way. When I first started making videos, I would get comments and messages saying I needed to wear other things or ask why I don’t dress more casual, or just say to me that I need to be more opinionated and loud, and I would think about it for a second, and then decide, nope, that’s not the road for me. I’m just a nice, happy girl who loves fashion, and I need my style and personality to represent who I am.
What’s your favorite brand and why?
LM: I love IGIGI. I have never met an IGIGI dress that I didn’t love. The designs and cuts are incredible. The style and comfort is out of this world, and I always look forward to seeing the new IGIGI collections.
What are your go-to outfit combinations?
LM: I usually enjoy some type of easy to wear, comfortable dress with lots of fun accessories and cute shoes.
