Heather is a graduate student who worked super hard on obtaining one of her biggest goals, a Master’s Degree, all while working Full Time, but, being that she’s one of the very few females in her field, IT, she likes to make sure that she dresses and presents herself in a way that makes her feel girly and artistic, not just the computer nerd that she kind of is. Which shows in her taste of makeup, hair, and fashion choices. Although she loves all things beauty related, she’s a huge travel junkie. She tries to travel around the world whenever she can, however she can. Being able to experience different parts of the world help show her new ways of life and thinking and even styles. She loves to take her life experiences and share that with everyone, all types of demographics around the world, to help inspire and teach people the value of being true to themselves.
How were you inspired to begin your channel? Where did you start?
I was inspired to begin the beauty aspect of my channel after watching Fafinettex3 and joining a contest she held many years ago.
I started off by entering this contest where you had to recreate one of her videos, exactly like her and I ended up winning first runner-up. People started telling me I should do videos and then they just kind of took off from there.
What inspires you and keeps you moving forward? Why are you passionate about it?
I think what truly inspires me to move forward with my channel are the subscribers that I have, especially those who have stuck with me for soooooo long!
I’m passionate about it because I think that YouTube has always been a great way to kind of have your voice be heard, whether it be expressing yourself through makeup videos or vlogs, there’s always so much good that can come from it.
What’s your favorite aspect of the beauty & cosmetics industry?
I think that my favorite aspect of this whole beauty community is the fact that people from all around the world, of all demographics, can come together to learn and inspire one another.
What makes your brand unique from other beauty channels?
I like to think that the fact that I keep it very real with my subscribers, like showing them its okay to be ugly and make funny faces or just talk about whats really going on in the world or my life, helps to sort of make me unique. You know? It’s not just, Hey, I’m Heather and I love making makeup, hair, and fashion videos… it’s also like, hey, I’m human too… let’s enjoy this journey of life together.
“…I think being able to express that through my channel and having it take off would be a huge accomplishment for myself”
How do you organize/plan out your content?
I was never really good about this but as of lately, I have been trying to conduct a plan.. I bought a planner and a dry erase calendar and I’m hoping that this can help me start getting some kind of workflow put together for these videos.
What is your goal for your channel? Dreams?
I suppose the goal for my channel is more to help inspire people all around the world. I’ve always been passionate about school and the importance of self-strength and love that I think being able to express that through my channel and having it take off would be a huge accomplishment for myself.
Dreams, ha… let’s talk about how Ipsy sends their girls/guys all around the world!! I’d love to have that someday.
Who are your typical followers? How would you describe them?
I guess the majority of my followers are people who have been with me for years, kind of grew up with me. I would definitely say, they are the true ride or dies.. they stick up for me, they love me, they show me so much understanding and support.. it’s truly amazing.
Do you have any tips for others trying to break into the beauty industry?
Just really stay consistent.. that’s kind of where I fell off the boat.. Make sure you are always being yourself because everyone loves to see the real you shine.
What are your favorite beauty products or your go-to skincare regimen?
Honestly, I’m super in love with TooFaced palettes right now.
What products are you currently using on a daily basis?
I use TooFaced palettes literally almost every day. I also like to use the Loreal telescopic mascara, don’t think I could give that up!
What’s your personal style?
I don’t really know how to explain my personal style. I really have been wanting to kind of change it up and now that I can afford to buy better clothes, I think I’ll try to sort of express myself more through my clothing choices.
“Make sure you are always being yourself because everyone loves to see the real you shine.”
How does your personal style influence your branding?
I think that my style, even now, helps to showcase that you can be cute and trendy on a budget. I’ve always been so frugal with my money because I was taught that everything I wanted, I had to get on my own… So being that I never made top dollars like a lot of gurus on YouTube, I learned how to buy clothes that I could dress up and make look like the “trendy” stuff of that time.
What’s your favorite brand and why?
If we are talking clothing, I can’t even deny that Forever21 is still a huge percentage of my closet. I don’t know when I’ll stop wearing it to be honest.
What are your go-to outfit combinations?
I think a go-to for me is usually a dress because you can always dress it up or down and make it look super different and fun every time…. but, I won’t lie. I love wearing me a nice pair of jeans.
