After years of working as an award‐winning journalist at CBS in New York, a marriage, and move to Texas, along with an inherent passion for fashion, Erin was prompted to start her own consulting company in 2009, specializing in styling ‘real’ women.
In an effort to reach women nationally and worldwide, Erin focuses most of her attention on her blog, BusbeeStyle.com, and YouTube channel, BusbeeStyle TV. Erin’s goal is to share her styling expertise with her contemporaries… 40+ year old women.
Erin has appeared as a style expert on “Good Morning America,” “CBS 2 News This Morning,” and “San Antonio Living,” and worked with major brands like Hallmark, Jergens, and Clinique.
Additionally, Erin speaks before major corporations, colleges and charities, including JAFRA Cosmetics, HEB, TexasState University and Fort Sam Houston.
Erin’s most important role is being a mom to six‐year old son, Gage, and four‐year old daughter, Elizabeth.
How were you inspired to begin your channel?
EB: My sweet friend, Marnie Goldberg aka “MsGoldGirl” encouraged me to start a YouTube channel. I have a background in journalism, having worked as a producer and a reporter for 10+ years. YouTube was a natural fit. It enables me to utilize all of my TV skills in combination with my years of experience as a wardrobe stylist.
Where did you start?
EB: You just start. The videos aren’t pretty in the beginning, but you learn as you go.
What inspires you and keeps you moving forward? Why are you passionate about it?
EB: My primary passion has always been to help as many women as I can ‘look like they have their act together, even if they don’t.’ YouTube enables me to reach women all over the world. It’s an amazing platform and resource. I feel lucky to have discovered it.
What’s your favorite aspect of the beauty, cosmetics and fashion industry?
EB: I really love that fashion and beauty bring women together. We all inherently want to look our best. A love of fashion and beauty unifies us. I believe how you present yourself to the world is a very powerful tool. How you look determines how others perceive you, how successful you are, and how you feel about yourself.
What makes your brand unique from other beauty, cosmetics and fashion channels?
EB: A couple of things…
1. I’m 41 years old, so I typically speak to a more mature audience, although I do have a great deal of younger viewers as well.
2. I’m a wardrobe stylist, so I offer expert
advice based on years of experience working with women one-on-one.
3. I am passionate about what I do and I believe that shows.
How do you organize/plan out your content?
EB: I still like to write things out on a calendar. I have a giant monthly calendar to plan out videos. I typically plan one month in advance.
What is your goal for your channel? Dreams? Who are your typical followers?
EB: How would you describe them? My goal is to continue growing in order to reach more women globally. This year, I would love to reach 35K subscribers. I think my typical viewer is a woman 35+ who is very busy and doesn’t have a great deal of time to shop or follow trends, but she still wants to look her best.
EB: Yes, start out learning on someone else’s dime. Learn as much as you can while working for someone else. Be humble. Be kind. Do not burn bridges under any circumstance. Be patient.
What are your favorite beauty products or your go-to skincare regimen?
EB: I really love Obagi.
What products are you currently using on a daily basis?
EB: I use Obagi exfoliating cleanser, vitamin c serum and exfoliating day lotion. I also use Retin-A once a week.
What’s your personal style?
EB: I call it edgy elegance. I try different trends, but I always try to look like a lady and dress appropriately for my age.
How does your personal style influence your branding?
EB: I think it influences it greatly. All of my outfit blog posts and many of my videos reflect my style.
What’s your favorite brand and why?
EB: Tough one. I like SO many. I’m really into denim right now and I am loving RtA, AMO, and Citizens of Humanity jeans. I just bought a fabulous pair of Alice + Olivia lace wide-leg pants. I’m also loving Henri Bendel and GiGi New York handbags, and I just bought a wonderful necklace by Elizabeth Cole. The best-selling retailers are always Loft and Nordstrom.
What are your go-to outfit combinations?
EB: I feel like if I’m wearing stripes and awesome jeans, everything is right in the world. My fail-safe combination is a striped top, blazer, skinny jeans and pumps with a great necklace.
