How were you inspired to begin your channel? Where did you start?
EB: I was inspired to begin my channel by other YouTubers. I also finally got an Instagram and Twitter, soon being obsessed with makeup videos and so called “tumblr” inspiration. I actually started out with a collaboration channel with my two friends. We made skit type videos, trying to make our viewers laugh. We also tried doing vlogs. But I soon became tired of that type of video and so did the others. They decided to quit the channel which left me with my own clean slate. I almost didn’t continue but I’m so glad I did because now I have 6,000 people watching my videos.
What inspires you and keeps you moving forward? Why are you passionate about it?
EB: A lot inspires me to keep going. But most important are definitely my subscribers and followers. Every time I upload and see their feedback, it makes me more excited to post my next thing. I am passionate about this because I love doing it. I love the filming, the editing, the makeup, the outfits, the friendships made and just the thrill of uploading a video. It makes me happy and is all I want to do in my free time.
What’s your favorite aspect of the beauty industry?
EB: My favorite aspect of the beauty industry is the new things I get to try. Every day there is something else they’re luring me into buying. They also come up with things super helpful you would’ve never thought of.
What makes your brand unique from other beauty channels?
EB: My brand is unique because I edit my videos differently and try to do videos that others don’t do. I like to try new editing techniques. I also try not to do the same basic beauty guru videos and put my own twist on things.
How do you organize/plan out your content?
EB: I plan/organize my content by first getting the idea of what I want to do. I then get some paper and a pen and write out all the things I want to make sure I include. I write down important things I want to mention but I most definitely do not write down exactly what I want to say. I need to leave room for funny bloopers and just me being lame and messing around with the camera. I also love to plan what certain effects to use on the video and how I want to do my intro or text overlays!
What is your goal for your channel? Dreams?
EB: My goal for my channel isn’t an amount of subscribers or amount of views. My goal is to make people smile. I want to know people enjoy my videos and watch them when they need to be in a good mood or get inspired. My dream is to eventually meet all of my subscribers so we can both share how much we mean to each other.
Do you have any tips for others trying to break into the beauty & fashion industry?
EB: The only tip I really have for newbies to the beauty industry is to be yourself. If you want to make videos or posts or whatever it is you aspire to do, you have to be you. You can’t copy or do the same thing. It doesn’t matter whether you don’t have the latest makeup product or the best editing software, if you are yourself in your videos and posts, everyone will want to watch you.
What are your favorite beauty products or your go-to skincare regimen?
EB: I have a lot of beauty and skin favorites it’s hard to choose! But my current favorite makeup product is Becca’s Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop. It’s such a gorgeous highlighter especially for this time of year! As for skin, I’m loving Clinique’s three step facial wash process. It’s helped my skin so much and really cleared it up within like two weeks!
What products are you currently using on a daily basis?
EB: On a daily basis, I don’t do much. I use a Maybelline BB cream to even out my skin tone. For under my eyes and on blemishes I use my NYX Gotcha Covered concealer. Then I set that all with a Covergirl loose powder. Sometimes when I have extra time in the morning I’ll bronze and highlight. For this I use my NYC Smooth Skin bronzer, Becca Champange Pop and Becca Moonstone shimmering skin perfecter. Then I coat my eyelashes in Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara. Lastly, I fill in my brows with “faint” from the Naked Basics palette and set my makeup with ELF mist and set.
What’s your personal style?
EB: I like to describe my personal style as boho and earthy. I love all things coachella and buddhist inspired. I also love tie die and fringe things that give your look a little extra something. I stick to the basic colors of black, white, cream, muted blue and pastel baby pink.
How does your personal style influence your branding?
My personal style influences my branding because it shows who I am and allows me to step out of my comfort zone and buy things that make my style even more unique. It also inspires my video ideas and editing styles.
What’s your favorite brand and why?
EB: Hmmm..favorite brand. Almost impossible to answer! My favorite drugstore brand is probably NYX. As for high-end, definitely Urban Decay or Stila.
