Cindy Thai is a 20 year old currently studying political science and food studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). She is originally from Las Vegas, Nevada and she absolutely love dogs and squirrels, and she has an unhealthy obsession with frozen yogurt. She currently makes YouTube videos on two channels, infinitelycindy which is her fashion, beauty, college and lifestyle channel and infinitelyvloggin where she makes daily vlogs showcasing everything that is her life!
How were you inspired to begin your channel? Where did you start?
CT: Although I created infinitelycindy about three years ago and infinitelyvloggin about a year and a half ago, I actually have been making YouTube videos for over six years now! I basically started watching YouTube videos when I was in middle school and completely fell in love with it and thought to myself “hey why can’t I do this?” So I sat down one day in my room, turned on my MacBook webcam and filmed my first video. I was instantly addicted to making videos and loved the community I was building around my content. Throughout the years I’ve had many YouTube channels and I was still finding my niche and groove and now I have with my two channels.
What inspires you and keeps you moving forward? Why are you passionate about it?
CT: I have been making YouTube videos for such a long time, one would think I am bored or tired of it because, I know so many people who stop after a certain point in time, but that is the complete opposite for me. The more I make videos, the more passionate and invested I get. I am so passionate about making videos because I’m creating content centered on things that I am passionate about, aka college life, makeup, fashion and more. My subscribers also keep me so incredibly motivated since I keep striving to give them the best content because they are the most amazing support system ever.
What’s your favorite aspect of the beauty & cosmetics industry?
CT: I absolutely love the vast amount of creativity and innovation that is apart of the beauty industry. The creativity aspect is self-explanatory with the creative products and the use of makeup in general being so creative, but I also love the innovation that exists in these industries. There are always new products that utilize new formulas, new technology, and techniques that keep the industry changing and ever new.
What makes your brand unique from other beauty channels?
CT: Honestly, it’s just my personality. The content that I create can easily be replicated and I have used many ideas that others use like hauls, tutorials and DIY videos, but it is the personal touch that my personality and individual perspective that makes my brand unique because, my brand is me.
How do you organize/plan out your content?
CT: I keep a long list of ideas for content and a lot of the list is actually requests and suggestions from my subscribers so I love that. But basically I’ll plan out my video schedule for the week or month and I’ll choose which videos I want to film and upload when and then I just do it, it’s a pretty simple system haha
What is your goal for your channel? Dreams?
CT: Every hundred or thousand subscribers I gain is a huge accomplishment to me. My goal honestly is just to keep growing and build a community for my infinity family where I have top-notch content that they enjoy. That’s my overall goal and as for dreams I have a couple. First being my ultimate goal of having 100,000 subscribers to get a silver play button from YouTube haha Second is being able to work brands that I love with all my heart like Insomniac events, Urban Decay, Victoria Secret Pink, Hollister or even Yellow Claw. Lastly I have a dream that I will be able to meet every single one of my lovely #infinities because they are the world to me and there is no greater joy for me than when I get to meet them.
Do you have any tips for others trying to break into the beauty industry?
CT: The biggest tip I could give someone trying to get into the beauty industry is conduct your research and be knowledgeable. Of course you won’t be able to know everything, but it is important to be an expert in some aspects because the field of beauty is so large and competitive. You should have a strong grasp of brands and products and you have to keep up with what’s new in order to stay with this industry since it is constantly growing and transforming.
What are your favorite beauty products or your go-to skincare regimen?
CT: I’m currently obsessed with Kylie Jenner’s Lip Kits and I actually just uploaded a review and swatches video about them. I also love Derma-e purifying daily detox scrub and I actually plan on doing a full review on that product as well. For my holy grail products that I use everyday I would say MAC Studio finish concealer, Rimmel Stay Matte Powder, NARS eye shadow primer, Urban Decay eye shadows, Stila liquid eyeliner and Maybelline colossal cat eyes mascara in glam black waterproof.
What products are currently in your purse?
CT: I always have my MAC Blotting powder, Clean and Clear Blotting sheets, Le Bebe Coo Baby Lipstick (lip balm) and Kylie Jenner’s Lip Kit in Candy K in my purse!
What’s your personal style?
CT: My personal style is just that, it’s my very own. I fluctuate from very preppy girly, to bohemian, to edgy and at home lounging around chic haha My style definitely depends on the day but honestly it’s very much just me. My way of putting together outfits is just my own eye and I can’t really box it into a particular category.
How does your personal style influence your branding?
CT: My entire brand is based on the person that I am and the community I’ve created with my viewers so my personal brand correlates with my brand of “infinitelycindy” or Cindy Thai very closely. I am constantly growing and changing as a person and that is reflected in my style as I grow up and change throughout life so I would say they definitely influence each other a lot.
What’s your favorite brand and why?
CT: That’s really hard because there are certain products that I just swear by certain brands like eye shadow is Urban Decay, eyeliner is Stila etc but if I had to choose a brand overall I would say Maybelline because it has a solid variety of products that I like is all categories.
