It is just about impossible for any lipstick not to look appealing when placed idly on store shelves, whether that is a ravishing purple, a peachy red or even gothic black. However, our temptations should never be the driving force behind choosing the best lip color, at least not entirely! Here are some factors that definitely should:
- Lip Shape
The shape of your lips should always be a consideration as generally, darker colors make lips look smaller and lighter and brighter colors make them appear bigger. Therefore, you must choose the color, depending on whether you wish to accentuate or minimize your lip shape.
- Setting Undertones
A great way to choose a lipstick is to match it with your skin color. For doing this, you must find out your skin’s natural undertone. Most people fall into one of two categories: warm or cool. Those with cool undertones tend to be a little fairer while those with warm undertones can have a golden or olive hue. If you have warmer undertones, you should stick to warmer colors like peachy colors and oranges, and else if you have cool undertones, look for shades with blue or purple tones in them.
- Skin Color
Another way to go about it is by matching the color with your skin tone. If you have olive skin most nude, pink, orange, and red shades will look good on you as your skin tone is generally neutral. If you have fair skin, then you should definitely experiment with bold and dark colors. You should also avoid anything too light or with too much of a yellow undertone so you don’t look too pale. Lastly, if you have dark skin avoid anything too light or pale on the lips and go for darker shades like dark plums, berries and reds.
